Wrongful Convictions Unit Paralegal Opportunity Grant Funded Contract

The State Public Defender’s Office is seeking to contract with two part-time paralegals to assist the Wrongful Convictions Unit on a special federal grant funded project. The contract will begin on June 1, 2026 and end on September 30, 2027. It is expected that the paralegals selected will work 40 hours per month toward the contract. Rate of pay is $2,500 per month.

The successful candidates will assist in various legal tasks such as managing case files, preparing legal documentation, and conducting research. A degree from an accredited paralegal program or equivalent experience is required. This is a hybrid position with in-person work in Des Moines as needed.
